Episode 68: Movie Combo Platter - Avengers Infinity War & Endgame
Friday Jul 02, 2021
Friday Jul 02, 2021
Not all movies and sequels are created equal, which is why we want to spotlight some of the greatest combinations - one-two punches if you will - in the history of cinema. In this episode, we lead it off with the modern day classics of Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame - the third and fourth installment in their series. We dissect what makes these movies go together so well and continue to shill for MCU with absolutely no shame whatsoever.
Also, we have a bunch of Star Wars news, thoughts on Loki, Uncle Todd apparently trying to give himself heat stroke, and the introduction of our new intern Patrick!

Monday Jun 28, 2021
Monday Jun 28, 2021
One would be hard-pressed to have made it through the 1980's without some kind of knowledge about He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Whether you were a fan, were annoyed by a fan, or were getting a second job in order to afford to buy toys for some crazed 8 year old, this 'roided-up Conan knock-off was part of the fabric of our lives. So when Kevin Smith dropped a trailer for his soon-to-debut on Netflix sequel to the original series, we had to give it a look and then share it with you... the people.
All that plus a dose of Star Wars and Marvel news as well as a health update from The Man They Call Tim. Dig in!

Anyone who's watching professional wrestling for more than a couple minutes is aware that matches can often have some weird stipulations to make things a little more exciting, silly, or downright vicious. But which one is best? And more importantly, which ones do a couple of idiots with their own podcast and apparently little in the way of maturity think are best?! We're glad you asked! In this episode, we break it all down scientifically with our own wrasslin' match type brackets to find the best of the best!
Yeah yeah yeah ... we know it's June, but we recorded this in May and it took a little longer for us to edit and post. Considering everyone else does their brackets for March Madness, we were already a couple months late - so what's another week?

Episode 64: 1984 Year In Movies - We Came, We Saw... We Reviewed It!
Friday May 14, 2021
Friday May 14, 2021
We've had ourselves a good ol' time looking at some other years in cinema history, so why not head back to that well one more time as we take a look at what some have called "the greatest year in cinema history" - 1984. This time, we've brought some help with us as we welcome Mel Barrett to the Free Range Congregation to help us run this thing down and add a dollop of legitimacy to our normal shenanigans.
Mel is a screenwriter and filmmaker who has worked inside and outside Hollywood along with writing a couple of novels as well. Her and Todd will be co-hosting an upcoming podcast about the process of taking a script from page to screen in the near future.
Audio note: we had some weird things happening this episode, so allow us to apologize in advance for any strange background noises or nose whistles that might've made it through!
LINKS OF INTEREST:
- With all apologies to LL Cool J... don't call it a comeback... of the Infinity Stones...
- Is there a Star Wars reboot coming that features Rey's son?!?!
- For the sake of reference, here are all the movies released in 1984
- And here's the claim for 1984 as the best year in movie history
- Wow, Todd got one right - Big was released in 1988
- Behold the vast expanse that is Eric Roberts' IMDB page
- The movies that were involved in the "points" exchange were Close Encounters of the Third Kind (Steven Speilberg), Star Wars (George Lucas), and Big Wednesday (John Milius). Pretty sure Lucas wound up getting the cut of Milius' surfing movie and the short end of the stick.
...AND ANOTHER THING:
Tim recommends checking out all the new WWE Legends A&E Biography shows from the last few weeks.
Todd thinks you should check out the documentary on screenwriter and director John Milius streaming on Amazon.

Back when The Falcon & The Winter Soldier started out on The Ploos, we made some calls on which fan theories where The Real and which were The Jabroni. Episode 61: Darkseid of the Gloom - Zack Snyder's Justice League Review
Friday Apr 09, 2021
Friday Apr 09, 2021
We finally got around to watching the newly-released-to-streaming-epic that is Zack Snyder's Justice League, and... now we need a nap and a serious round of fluids to recover. Most kidding aside, we made our way through the four plus hour film and have some thoughts about what could have been, what was, Todd's unrepentant dislike of Joss Whedon, and overall thoughts on this monster of a flick.
All that and a Week In Geek chock full of news about the Battlestar Galactica reboot/sequel/mirage, a newly released deleted scene from Return of the Jedi, and whether or not we'll get a Luke Skywalker Star Wars TV show any time soon.

Episode 60: The Odd Couple - The Falcon & The Winter Soldier Theories
Friday Apr 02, 2021
Friday Apr 02, 2021
You'd think we'd all have learned our lesson after WandaVision, but nope... a new Marvel show brings a ton of new fan theories about what will happen, whom it will happen to, and how many big surprises will be revealed. Thank goodness we're here to break it all down and let you know what is The Real and what is The Jabroni when it comes to all this rampant speculation. To make things more interesting, we're putting all of this on the record just after the first episode and will return once the series is done to determine who was righter and wronger.
A quick programming note... Even though this is being posted the day that episode 3 of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is released, we recorded this episode the Sunday immediately following the premier of the first episode. Life has gotten us behind on editing, but we'll be catching up shortly.
