A podcast about EVERYTHING... but mostly the stuff we like. Two friends talking about everything and anything that they’re interested in a that particular moment. From science fiction to sports, movies to music, books to Battlestar Galactica... we try to cover it all in our own, special, idiotic way.

After a slow start, the movie biz is cranking up nicely towards the end of 2021 with a whole bunch of new releases coming down the pike - with most of them actually hitting theaters! So we figured it was our honor-bound duty to pause from our normal idiocy and take some time to appreciate a few of the flicks coming up based on their trailers. Dig it!
LINKS OF INTEREST:
- It looks like we'll be getting Iron Heart a little bit earlier than her own Disney+ show... like Black Panther 2 early!
- Trailer for Dune - released today in theaters and HBO Max
- Trailer for The Eternals - coming November 5 to theaters only
- Trailer for Hawkeye - coming November 24 to Disney+
- Trailer for The Matrix: Resurrections - coming December 22 to theaters
- Here's that Tim Ferriss podcast featuring author Neil Gaiman
- And a quick update to the final update of the show... Uncle Todd wound up losing Week 5 in fantasy football
...AND ANOTHER THING:
Tim recommends Neil Gaiman's collection of nonfiction, The View From the Cheap Seats. By the way, the links we try to use for Bookshop.org sources from locally owned book stores and is a great way to get increased selection while not funneling a ton of money to some corporation that's taking it all to Saturn with them in a few years.
Todd thinks you should watch all of Parks and Recreation if you haven't already, and watch it again if you have.

Episode 77: Bradygeddon Part 4 - The Return of the GOAT
Monday Oct 18, 2021
Monday Oct 18, 2021
We thought our time talking about Tom Brady and the New England Patriots was at an end... but how wrong we were. When the Bucs made a stop in Foxborough, it was time for us to dust off this subject one more time and reflect on the game itself, Mac Jones, and the legacies of Tom Brady and Bill Belichick for the last time. Or is it....?
Programming note - This was recorded the evening after that game, but our editing has been slowed the last couple of weeks. We're hoping to get back on track this week barring any setbacks from Patrick burning down the office or squirting Cheez Whiz into a USB port.
LINKS OF INTEREST:
- Here's the No Time To Die trailer in case you haven't seen it already. And since we're horribly late getting to this, Uncle Todd's already been out to see the flick and gives it a hearty thumbs up (for what that's worth)
- A little more information on how the ScarJo - MickeyMoMo dust-up has been settled, giving us peace in our time... for now
- Here are Tom Brady's career stats, which are worth a look if only to see the stupid-long list of appearances on leaderboards and such towards the bottom
...AND ANOTHER THING:
Tim recommends listening to the episode of NPR's How I Built This featuring Fawn Weaver - author and founder/owner of Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey
Todd thinks you should check out Complicated Shadows: The Life and Music of Elvis Costello by Graeme Thomson as well as Wise Up Ghost And Other Songs by Elvis Costello and The Roots

Episode 76: Everybody Shang Chi Tonight!
Friday Oct 01, 2021
Friday Oct 01, 2021
We finally get around to talking about the newest Marvel movie - the 25th in the ever-expanding MCU - Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings! We'll talk about everything we liked and what didn't and whether we'd recommend it to others like the good little Marvel shills that we are. Also, we talk about that photo with Kevin Feige that Hugh Jackman posted awhile back on social media, some happenings in AEW, some random ideas we have for Disney+ shows, and fantasy football.
LINKS OF INTEREST:
- Hugh Jackman clarified what that photo with Kevin Feige really means
- Sounds like there's a couple interesting cameos coming up in Doctor Strange 2
- Here's some Easter egg breakdowns from Screenrant and Buzzfeed
...AND ANOTHER THING:
Tim recommends checking out Dynamite and Rampage from AEW
Todd thinks you should check out For All Mankind, the alternate history show from BSG genius Ronald Moore

Episode 75: Clearly Canadian Album 1-on-1 - Rush Versus Barenaked Ladies
Monday Sep 20, 2021
Monday Sep 20, 2021
As you might've noticed by some of our previous episodes, we dig on some music from time to time. So, we decided to take this to the next level by assigning each other a favorite album and then reporting back here so all of the interwebs could hear the results. Through pure coincidence, we both chose some of Canada's favorite sons with Todd being given Moving Pictures by Rush to listen to and Tim getting Gordon by Barenaked Ladies. How will it turn out? Give it a listen!
Oh, and we had some thoughts on Marvel's What If...? at about the halfway mark of its first season and the return of football as well.
LINKS OF INTEREST:
- It was Annette Benning who played Mar-Vel / The Supreme Intelligence in Captain Marvel
- Here's the music video for "Tom Sawyer" by Rush in all it's early 1980's glory
- Yeah, side one of Average White Band's AWB album is all killer, no filler
- Check out the crazy of Rush playing "YYZ" in Rio back in the day
- As noted during the edit, Barenaked Ladies were banned from playing a park in Toronto, not Halifax. However, since they wrote "Hello City" about their disastrous few shows in Halifax, Uncle Todd is claiming half credit
- And here's Barenaked Ladies reunited with Steven Page and Andy Creegan at the 2018 Juno Awards after they were inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame
...AND ANOTHER THING:
Tim recommends checking out Signals by Rush - the follow-up to Moving Pictures
Todd thinks you should check out BNL's The Bathroom Sessions on YouTube, specifically this version of "Bedside Manor" with Steven Page.

Just when we think the world is a futile pile of rocks hurtling to disaster, Marvel gives us a little bit of hope that maybe it's worth living a little bit longer. Or, maybe we're just shallow people in need of medication. Either way, we got the new Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer and just had to talk about it!

Call it fate, call it luck, call it karma... but we believe that everything happens for a reason. Well, Loki was certainly one helluva ride, wasn't it? We talk about all the twists and turns as well as figuring out how we did with judging all the predictions and fan theories that we looked at prior to episode one. Who was right? Who was wrong? And most importantly, who takes home the bottle of bourbon that serves as our motivation to use our noggin on these things instead of just phoning it in?
All of that plus Marvel news, more Marvel news, a few cheap shots at DC, new documentary content on Disney Ploos that we're dying to see, Tim's health update, and much more!
LINKS OF INTEREST:

- The jazz clarinetist that Todd was trying so hard to recall? It's Don Byron. And the song in question with Biz Markie is called "Schizo Jam" from his 1998 album Nu Blaxpoitation
- A little background on Pappy Van Winkle 23 Year - the most expensive bottle of bourbon you can buy that's produced in any kind of quantity. Retail might be $69.99, but good luck finding it for that - most of the time, you're looking upwards of $2,000 to find it on the secondary market
...AND ANOTHER THING:
Tim recommends watching the Rob Van Dam episode of WWE Icons on Peacock
Todd thinks you oughta check out this video of Biz Markie singing Elton John's classic "Bennie and the Jets" with Beastie Boys live. Or, here's a longer and slightly better quality video.

Episode 69: Hail King Costner! - Crowning the King of Sports Movies
Friday Jul 09, 2021
Friday Jul 09, 2021
When it comes to sports movies, there's been a slew of flicks that have covered just about every activity from baseball to bobsledding. But when you're looking for an actor to anchor one of those movies, there's only one person to call - Kevin Effin' Costner. In this episode, we count down our favorite Costner sports flicks as we crown him King of Sports Movies!
As you'll hear at the top of the show, this episode was recorded a month ago and was mis-filed by our intern Patrick, rendering all hopes at timeliness completely moot. However, since it's still a fun listen, we've decided to throw this one at ya and hope you'll enjoy it as much as we enjoyed recording it!
